What is a good 50w tube amp for rock and punk?
I'm interesting in buying a new, nice amp. I've been playing on a practice amp for about 4 years so I don't mind spending $600-900 on something worth it.
What I'm looking for: A tube amp that's good for styles between rock and hardcore punk. I don't want to play metal, in case you were wondering. Preferably, I would like the tube amp to be around 50w and cost from $600-900.
I've been to the nearby guitar stores and they don't have any variety so I'm somewhat inexperienced with my options.
Also, my gear right now:
Fender Jazzmaster
Line 6 15w spider amp
ZVex Fuzz Factory Pedal
Rat Distortion Pedal
My favorite guitar sound is the Dead Kennedy's but I couldn't find what gear they played.
A Fender Hot Rod Deville or Hot Rod Deluxe might be a good amp for you. The DeVille has 4 10" speakers and I think is 60 watts. The Deluxe is smaller (40w with one or two 12" speakers I think). They're great amps for that type of music though. Egnater amps are really good too and have awesome tone, but you're not going to find a 50w Egnater amp under $1,000. You might get a used Egnater Rebel 30-212 (30 watts & 2 12" speakers) for around $800-$900. It would probably have plenty of power for you. Or you could go the stack route and get a separate head and speaker cab, but that would typically cost more than an equivalently powered combo amp. You probably know the names to look for though (Mesa Boogie, Vox, Marshall, Fender, Orange, Egnater, Bogner). They're all great amps so you really have to try them out and find what you like.
