how to attach ac-dc wall-wart adapter to wires?
I'm trying to hook up a ac-dc converter to an AC power supply without actually plugging it into the wall (ie running wires to it from within a light i'm wiring). The only adapter I have at the correct voltage is a 'wall-wart' style one so the only place I can connect the power to the adapter is through the male prongs of the plug. Is it better to just attach wires carrying AC to these prongs and solder/insulate them? or should I open up the adapter and attach the wires somewhere inside for a more secure connection?
Or should i just keep trying to find a non 'wall-wart' style adapter so I can splice an actual cord to my AC power supply?
Don't open the adapter. I may cause safety/hazard risk. Buy a socket and it is the socket where you will connect the AC line.
