Is there a adaptor that my router/modem's power supply cord could plug into then plug in my car cig. lighter?
You could use a power inverter, but I wouldn't recommend using a cheap one. A power fluctuation could damage your device. I can see no purpose to plugging in a Cable/DSL modem, since you have no source to connect to for an internet gateway. I personally don't feel it's worth the risk of frying equipment. I have a 500W inverter for my laptop, but an inverter that size has to be hardwired to the vehicle battery. I should mention, that when I tried to charge a Craftsman 19.2V cordless tool battery with it, I cooked the battery and charger.
Now, my question to you is, are you trying to get into wardriving? (that's when you drive around looking for open wireless networks)
