What do these guitar pedals do?

What is the purpose for a Super Shifter guitar pedal and a Chorus guitar pedal?

A chorus pedal gives your tone a warm, wavey, shimmery sound. It's based on the idea that if multiple instruments were playing the same thing at the same time, one or more of them would be just a leeetle out of tune, so what the pedal does is mix in a signal that's just barely out of tune with the original. The result is a warm, pretty sound. You would use this on something like an acoustic guitar, or an electric where you wanted it to sound nice and sweet and pretty.

Chorus pedals do not "repeat" notes, they're not delay pedals.

A pitch-shifter like this one does a few different things... one thing it can do is add a harmony to the sound... ie, it will take the sound and move it up or down as necessary to make a second sound that is in harmony with the first one. It can do this intelligently, ie, within a key, or fixed, where it's always at a certain interval. It can also move your signal's pitch up or down a bit.

It's kind've cool... if you are playing a solo and you want to have a section where it sounds like two guitars are playing instead of one, you would use the intelligent harmonizer function on this pedal... voila, it sounds like two guitars are playing in key. It's not perfect, but it can be pretty close.

I used to own an earlier version of this pedal. It's biggest use, for me, was making odd, unusual sounds. It's not necessarily a "pretty" sounding pedal, most of its functions end up making dissonant sounds.
