am i doing the right thing for my fish? and is their behavior normal?
hi! i have a 30g tank with mostly livebearers, i feed them a variety of frozen food live food and flakes.
for frozen u feed them daphnia,bloodworms, and kelp. for live i feed them brine shrimp that i hatch. for flake food i feed them tetramin tropical flakes and tetramin tropical flkakes with color enhancers and new life spectrum optimum flakes w/ garlic. am i feeding them a good enough variety of food and is it good for them(every few days i switch up or mix-it up a bit so they dont get bored) soooooo am i doing the right thing? are they getting good nutrision? and sometimes i add vit/mineral pyramids....so any way is this the right thing to do ....is this good for their health etc etc etc....
finally ...when fish get full is it normal for them to spit out food? thanks
That's really good actually.
The frozen/live is the best you can feed your fish.
Just make sure your throwing away the cultures of shrimp after a day and a half..after that they loose all nutritional value.
The vitamin or mineral pyramids aren't necessary. They are getting plenty of nutritional value from the live and frozen and even some from the flake food.
They'd eat themselves to death. :]
When they are spitting out the food it's to break it apart because the piece is too large for them to swallow. That's all it means. Like I said above they'd kill themselves before they stopped eating. Feed them only twice a day..and only what they can consume in 2 or 3 minutes. And actually when I feed mine frozen foods in the morning I don't feed them again at night. It's good once in a while to let their digestive tracks clear out..you can even fast them (Not feed) them one day. It's good for their systems every once in a while.
