Peavey Vypyr 15 modeling amp settings to mimic blues and metal sound from Crossroads movie?
I love the movie Crossroads, not britney spears one, and i love the ending with Steve vai and Eugene battling.
Well, i just got a new amp and i want to figure out if i could mimic those sounds with it.
It's a Peavey Vypyr 15 Modeling Amplifier.

To clear some things up, i would appreciate an knob diagram for Eugene's Blues sound, AND Steve Vai's Metal sound. not both mixed.

i dont own one of those so i cant tell you what to dial but i can lead you to the right path.
blues "distortions" are not really distortions per say but overdrive. which means you should start from a clean tone and add gain to it. i would probably use the fender twin amp mod on yours to get that. the brit and classic amp mods would also be a good start. blues overdrive is qualified as "warm" and "big grained" ... add more mids to your EQ, more pre-gain and less post gain. Possibly add the tube screamer as well.
metal distortion is fine grained and very rich. the Plexi setting would be what i would try first, then the rectifier .. and if all else fails try the 6505. cut all the mids (until its crunchy and good sounding) add bass and highs. you need a lot of gain so boost both pre and post gains .. you're gonna feedback a lot if you dont have a noise gate.. settings like that is like having your guitar be a stick of lit dynamite.. it wants to explode.
turn knobs until you find something that is pleasing to you.. but you should see the difference in tones from my little guidelines here and you'll understand pretty quick what does what.
