07 ranger revs but won't move?
i don't really know anything about trucks so i'm hoping someone that does can help me out. my boyfriend has a 2007 ford ranger level 2 fx4 with just over 100 000 km on it. a month or two ago he had his fluids all changed and a week ago just the oil. since yesterday the truck is messing up. when he steps on the pedal it revs up to 3 but won't move. then he's gotta put it in reverse and it makes a squeaking noise, then back in drive and it works but it's jerky and doesn't sound right. this happens often when it's stopped (including red lights and stop signs [pretty scary]).
he keeps the truck in mint condition, cleans it every day, always takes it in when he should, so what is going on with his truck?
it's an automatic
If its a manual shift the clutch is gone and needs to be replaced. If its a a auto shift the 1st gear solenoid or fluid is suspect.
