What brand is the most reliable internal filtration system(biological and mechanical)?
Which brand internal filtration system does every one use? We bought an Otto Internal power filter only four months ago and it seems to have kicked the bucket already. We are just doing some research before we buy a new system. We live in an area where power cuts are a regular occurance( at least 2 or three times a month.) We prefer internal filters, with a biological system. A few people have reccommended Fluval? What would every one reccommend?
I dislike Fluval. Unless it is the canister version, but even with that the power of the flow will never be the same and it seems to get weaker. Fluval is a horrible filter which cleans by sucking waste into a sponge. It is a horrible filter in a turtle tank, even though it was deemed best for it. As for the proppeller, if a piece of gravel or anything hard gets sucked into the filter, it will damage it and the propeller will be weaker and cannot be replaced. You would have to buy a whole new filter.
I use Top Fin, one of the oldest brands on the market, and my Top Fin 20 is still working for many years.
You could purchase the Penguin brand if you want the bio-wheel, but it is not internal but a hang on the side filter.
