How do you deal with OCD (obsessive compulsive disorder) people?
There are about 4% of people who suffers from OCD. One of my relatives is suffering from this disorder. I dont know how to deal with it. This relative wants us to confirm every single action done, this may include extremely detailed matters. A single action may be repeated many many times before putting it into practice . What amazes me is that OCD may come to people with high education and position in the society. Sometimes living with these people is impossible and may get you bored and crazy. You cannot leave them alone because you love them and you cannot stay with them around the hour because you may lose your job and your time. How do you solve this problem?
I do hope they are getting some therapy, as the future is bleak without it. It's really hard to cope with someone like this long term if there is no hope of improvement, which therapy would provide.
You have to cultivate patience. In fact, being around this person is going to develop either your patience or your temper, you know! (And it's basically up to you which you choose) You have to always try to remember that it is not their fault, but at the same time try to help, even just a little bit - but not by trying to argue them out of it.
I think you all need to spend a bit of time reading up on OCD, what helps and what makes it worse, if you really love this person.
