bass guitar effects?????????
therre are all these diffrent effects for bass guitars.i dont know what they do. Can sum1 tell me what these do?

and could you please explain simply?im only 16 i dont understand the hertz or anything like that
Ok, here goes...
1. De-esser is mostly for voice, not bass. It reduces the sibilant "s" sounds in a vocal. You don't need it for bass.
2. Compressor evens out the dynamics (loudness and softness) of a signal. Can be useful for bass. Makes notes sustain longer and can help the bass sit better in a mix.
3. Noise gate. Takes out the hiss and buzz between notes. More useful for guitar than bass.
4. Ring modulation. Makes the instrument sound like it is inside a 50 gallon drum or garbage can. (That's the best simple description I can come up with... 
5. Equalizer. Like the bass, mid and treble controls on your amp. Might be redundant.
6. Lo-fi. Exactly what the name says... Low fidelity is crummy sound like it is coming through a cheap radio. Can be fun, but not too useful.
7. Delay. Depending on the setting, can be distinct echoes or a doubling of the sound. Fun to use when soloing.
8. Reverb. Makes it sound like it is in a larger space. Anything from a room to a concert hall.
9. Phase shifting. Depending on the setting, can give a vibrating or swooshing sound. Flanging is similar.
10. Pitch shifter. Play one note and a different note comes out. The different note can be blended with the original note to create intervals.
11. Chorus. Mixes a slightly pitch shifted signal with the original. Can make the sound rich in a sense, or more ambient sounding. Again, more useful on guitar than bass.
Effects are fun, but IMO they are of limited use on bass. Anything that makes the notes less focused will weaken the foundation of the band, and if your sound gets too "wide", you will take sonic space away from the other instruments in the band. If you use any at all, do so with care.
