What do I need to do to get on my feet in the music carrer? (Rap)?
I need to know what products I need to purchase to get started...
I'm 13 years old and I have a friend who has some connections because he is a singer looking for a record deal
I'm getting a MacBook in a few days and I was wondering if GarageBand was a sufficent program.
The music I am pushing towards is exactly like Drake's album Thank Me Later. I want to mix in some piano in my beats, TML is the exact mood that I want.
Would the Remix tools be a neccasary purchase also?
Just tell me what you think I need (i.e Microphones, Midi Controllers, etc.)
first off. don't make music that sounds like someone elses music. be original. you wont get anywhere if you sit around trying to copy someone elses style.
garageband will work for you. i would suggest getting a midi controller keyboard. m-audio make the keyrig 49 or osmething like that. it connects via USB and can control the samples in garageband. i have it and it works great. getting a USB mic will also work with garageband.
eventually i would suggest investing in an audio interface like the Mbox and a studio quality mic. i like the Mbox series because it comes with Pro Tools which is industry standard for recording and mixing. the Mbox 2 Mini is perfect for hip hop artists. i would also suggest the Rode NT1a mic. i've heard it on a lot of sessions, and it has never let me down. both of those are expensive, but will give you better quality.
