How do i set my guitar amp?
I just got my first amp for my electric guitar and when i plug in the guitar and play it, it just doesnt sound right. My settings are: clean level 5, treble, middle,and bass for the equalizer are all 5, and the reverb level is 5 too. So are my drive and level for the overdrive. How can i set the amp to make my guitar have a nice classic or alt. rock sound?
I usually leave all the EQs at 12o'clock unless i'm playing specific songs. Reverb being on five is really high, and it will sound dirty when played with distortion. Using reverb is better for the clean channel, and is especially pleasing when playing chords.
As for your distortion it is different for every amp, you have to find the right level for your amp, but too much will make your notes all slur together. Not to mention the tone knob on your guitar has a lot to do with it too, I usually use it maxed because I like the brightness, but you may prefer slightly lower.
