What is wrong with cheap guitar effects pedals?
Aldis have started selling $30 dollar pedals. Should i get one? Are they likely to be shit? Will they break instantly or just sound like arse. What is the difference between a cheap effects pedal and an expensive one?
Cheap guitar pedals are built with Components that have low tolerance that is to say they aren't constant. One resister might have a resistance of 00.1 and the next 00.3 so the sound of the circuit will change from pedal to pedal. This is why boutique pedals are so expensive, they all sound exactly alike because they only use matched components. The one you demo sound just like the one you buy. All in all unless your joe pro guitar guy you should care more about getting a pedal you can use. As for the price, don't look a gift horse in the mouth. Just try before you buy and if you can buy the one you demo.
