what type of guitar distortion pedal will i need to sound like how iommi plays war pigs?
i know he uses the just old style dist. but what can i use to sound like the song war pigs i have a boss ds-1 dist pedal and a boss metal core pedal what can i do with that?
Forget the Metal Core pedal...it's too much for that type of sound.
Tony was using Orange amps during the time that Sabbath recorded War Pigs. You're hearing one of his early SG style guitars with a Tychobrahe treble booster into the amp. The distortion is all coming off the amp (and those things got louder than all get out).
The closest "clone" I've heard was a Sabbath tribute band called Into The Void. The guitarist had a Les Paul Jr with P-90 pickups into a Rat Distortion pedal and then into a Marshall JCM-800 that was running fairly clean.
Without knowing what kind of guitar you have (very important) and amp you're running in to (also very important), there's no way to give you any meaningful settings for the DS-1.
