Questions about Digitech Whammy and Zvex Fuzz Factory..?
1. What does whammy actually do?
2. Is Whammy Pedal an on-off toggle or control?
3. Matt Bellamy of Muse has a built-in Fuzz Factory in one of his guitars - Can you make the siren-ish sound that his guitar makes from just the pedal? How?
hey i have never used a whammy pedal but i know what they do,
they have many settings that will make the note u are playing either go higher or lower in pitch the more you press down on the pedal. you can increase the amount that the note will go down or up as well. so if it is set to higher pitch it would be like doing a huge bend or pulling the tremolo/whammy bar upwards, or if it is set to down it would be like dropping the whammy bar so the strings get loose. in my opinion it is better that using the whammy bar because there is now risk of breaking ur strings and its easier because you don't have to hold the whammy bar while you do it.
i have never heard the siren sound before so ill just take a guess of what it is. it could be just feedback. if you turn your amp volume and distortion/gain up really high and your guitar in the bridge position and just don't touch the strings the guitar should make a really high pitched and kinda annoying, not sure if that that's noise but try it out. you would not need a Zvex Fuzz Factory you could do it with a normal amp as long as its got decent distortion the Digitech death metal pedal because got loads of distortion my guitar also has high gain pickups so it does that noise real easy out of my 35 watt amp even at fairly low volume. if you have a small amp or a amp with not much distortion might need a loader amp or a overdrive pedal.
