guitar effects pedal and amp question..?
i currently have a Washburn WI26 Idol guitar, a Boss OD-20, and Line6 Spider III 15 watt amp. i only started playing electric like less than 5 months ago. i'm also planing to buy a Boss DD-7 and a Vox Time Machine delay pedal. but i'm only gonna buy one of those this year, still choosing which one i should buy first. anyway, to my main question. i'm planning that maybe some time next year i'll get a real OD pedal. and i'm looking to buy a Fulltone Fulldrive2 and a Fulltone OCD (but i think il buy the Fulldrive2 first). now my question is, will the Fulldrive2 sound good on my Line6 Spier III 15 watt amp? i read forums and they all say that the Fulltone Fulldrive2 and OCD don't go well with solid state amps. so yea, what do you guys think? a couple of my friends have actually tried playing distortion and overdrive pedals into my amp and it sounded pretty good to me.. but i'd love to read your thoughts and ideas on this.
In my opinion, before getting pedals, pedals, pedals, and pedals... you should get a better amp. I've been playing guitar for 4 years now and I started with a line 6 spider II 15 watts. It's a cool amp because you have many presets : clean, crunch, metal and insane and several FX : phaser, chorus, reverb, delay but if you want to get a better sound you have to get another amp. I personnaly own an OCD and with my 1965 fender tube amp it sounds really nice because it drives the amp. But if you play with that kind of pedal on a line 6 spider III, the sound will be compressed and will sound pretty much as the crunch channel. You can get many tube amps for a good price (fender deluxe, crate V15 or V30, Orange tiny terror, etc)
