How does a Sweepable Frequency Notch Filter adjust the tone of your bass guitar?
My bass amp (Acoustic B200 combo amp) has a Sweepable Frequency Notch Filter and I'm a bit confused as to its use.
A notch filter is one that will remove a certain group of frequencies from a signal. The fact that it is sweepable means that you can pick the center frequency.
It's no different than using a graphic equalizer and pulling one of the sliders down.
Where this comes in handy is if you have certain notes that tend to really boom out louder than the rest. This has more to do with the room that you're in than anything else. While playing that booming note, you would rotate the notch filter until it gets reduced.
