Danelectro D-3 FAB Metal Effect Pedal?
I just ordered the Danelectro D-3 FAB Metal Effect Pedal. What can I expect from it? I like playing music by A7x, BFMV, Metallcia, Atreyu, Children of Bodom, and a lot of others. I also like playing punk music and I like the heavy distortion.
I'm also in a band and we play kinda heavy music but not too heavy like the bands I listed. We also started doing small gigs and have one coming up soon. Is this a good pedal for me and what is there to expect from it? Also list other pedals that I should keep my eye on.

From the reviews, it doesn't actually sound all that bad. Something I've noticed about Danelectro is that the pedals tend to be one trick ponies... they have one sound, and while you can play around with it a bit, basically it is what it is - if you don't like it, you probably never will.
That's not necessarily a bad thing, though - I feel the same way about the Boss Metal Zone, for instance. Sure, I've had it for years and like it a lot, but even though it is one of the most tweakable pedals as far as EQ goes (because of that parametric mid knob!), the basic tone is 80's metal.... ie heavily scooped mids, less bass response, and lots of treble. Too much treble, often, its easy to get the "bees in a can" sound with the treble even a little too high. So I don't like it for modern metal stuff.... it does leads very well, though! My current fav distortion pedal is the Boss Metalcore... more lower mids, more chunk, doesn't have the "bees in a can" tone to it.
Something I would urge you to consider is getting an EQ pedal or rackmount effect of some sort (depending on your rig and budget, of course). EQ after distortion is one of the most potent tools you can have in sculpting your tone to what you want... I've even gotten a good Metal Zone-ish tone from the Danelectro Fab Tone (fuzz pedal) + Boss GE-7!
To me, a decent EQ pedal is a better investment than going through pedal after pedal, looking for the "perfect" distortion. A lot of it depends on the rest of your gear, man - a better amp tends to give better distorted tones, period, so if you have scratch to spend, I suggest putting it towards your amp before anything else.
