i need to know what exactly i will need to power this system?
i want to buy 2 x immortal 15" audiobahn and 4 pair of 6"x9" ts-a6991r/s first this system will be connected to a computer so i want to know exactly what are the needed things to operate it well
1st i know that i need amplifier but which one
2nd do i need a crossover
3rd how to make this setup connectable to a ac power outlet
4th what cables do i will need (power cords,jacks,....)
5th do i need capacitator or it is in cars only
6th what type of enclosures vented or sealed & what is the best material to use in making enclosures is it wood or fiberglass
First off, I hate to do this "sparky", but you failed on this one. He is wanting to hook this up to a computer. The AC source is the wall plug in his home. An invertor is for use on a DC source changing it to a AC source. This is not needed here. If anything he would need a power supply to run a car audio amplifier in a home. It appears that "holy" is also under this same assumption.
On to the question at hand. Yes, you will need an amplifier to power this all. The question is, why don't you just use a home receiver / amplifier? It can run these speakers the same as one that you use in a car and do so just fine. I have done this in the past with my computer. I converted the speaker output connector of the sound card to RCA so that it could be hooked to the receivers input. Then ran the speakers from the receiver. If you are wanting the surround sound, then no problem, just use a sourround sound receiver that allows for the surround input.
Do you need a crossover? It would be recommended. However, you will need to use a "passive" crossover in this case which is hooked up after the receiver and before the speakers.
IF you do insist on using a car amplifier, you will need a power supply to run the system. It would need to be big enough to supply the power needed for the amp. I would also recommend a battery hooked up to this setup to hold reserve power. A capacitor is not something I would recommend in this situation. Capacitors help supply "burst" draws in a car system since they can quickly charge and discharge. In this setup, the amp would probably be so close to the power supply that it would be pointless.
As for cable's, this can be a vast array of options. If you use the receiver option, then you will only need RCA's to connect to the computer and speaker wires to run to the speakers. If you use the car amplifier setup, then in addition to the receiver option, you will need heavy duty power and ground wires for the connection of the power supply to the amp and battery if you choose to use one.
Finally, as for the enclosure, I have always been partial to sealed enclosures myself. I know others may disagree with this, but this is just my preference. What matters is what sounds best to you. Of course, this is only in refference to the subs, the 6x9's now I would only use in a sealed enclosure. They will rely on this to produce the best sound. As for the subs, you need to see what sounds best to you. Check at your local audio shop and see which one sounds better. You also need to make sure you use the manufacturers specs for the box. They may recommend the sealed enclosure, or possibly the vented. Use their specs to build the best enclosure. As for the materials to make it, I recommend 3/4 inch MDF (medium density fiberboard). Although the fiberglass could be nice and lightweight, you really need to know what you are doing to make one of these and it can be quite messy if you don't.
