Running rack gear through a 6505+ and removing hum?
Currently I have this setup: ESP Ltd Ec-1000 in vintage black going into a Shure PGX14 wireless system into my pedalboard in this order: Electro-Harmonix Small Clone chorus pedal, Boss DD-3 Digital Delay, BBE Green Screamer, Boss NS-2 Noise Suppressor, Korg Pitchblack tuner..then out the tuner into the back input of a Behringer Rack Tuner, out the tuner into an Alesis 3630 compressor, out the compressor into a BBE 482i Sonic Maximizer, out of the back of the maximzer into the input on my Peavey 6505+ head, then out the speaker outputs to a 4x12 and 2x12 Avatar contemporary cabinet.
However, I'm having a few problems. Many people have told me to run my effects through the effects loop in the back of the head. Also, I have a noise suppressor but I am still getting a loud hum when the Pre is set at 5 for the amp and the Post is at 5. Could someone please help me out with this..I've just switched over to guitar from drums so I'm still having trouble understanding all my new gear.
Jonathan - Wow! You have a lot of stuff connected. That is the main cause of your problem.
I have been doing sound for 20 years and it always annoys me when guitar players come in with a MESS of pedals, effects and whatever and the end result is noise, buzzes and humms. My PA system is always otherwise nice and quiet with no problems (until the musicians show up with their little rats nests).
My only advice is to break the system down to it's simplest hookup and then work your way up from there.
Connect the guitar to the guitar amp with NOTHING else. Are you getting a humm? Add a pedal...any humm?
The problem with all that stuff is that you are asking for problems. Keep your guitar rig AS SIMPLE AS HUMANLY POSSIBLE!!!! The more gear you add, the more chances of problems.
