Possibly Broken brand new guitar distortion pedal?
Ok well i got a new distortion pedal about 2 or so weeks ago but i just opened it up yesterday. it was my first one and i am totally new to these but i still wanted to get one to see what its like. i is a danelectro cool cat metall II and i didnt have an adapter for i it so i put in the battery it came with. i looked at the instructions so i plugged it in to my amp and guitar properly and then it sed to hit the footswitch to activate the effects and the LED light will glow as well. i did all that and nothing happened. no affects came out or anything and no light went on. i tried a few possible other things but still nothing. like i sed it is totally brand new and hasnt been used at all. ... any possible suggestions or ideas as to why it doesnt work?

Check to make certain you have the guitar plugged into the IN jack and the amp plugged into the OUT jack. The battery can only go in one way. The clip for the battery will only connect to the battery one way. If you got the battery to attach to the clip, that has to be right.
Now to test the pedal. Set all the knobs at 12:00. Straight up. Then turn the amp on. Now step on the pedal and the light should come on. You should have distortion when you play. Step on the pedal to activate the switch again. The light should go out. Now you have a clean sound.
If the pedal does not work when you do that test, I suggest you take it back to the store where you got it (assuming you got it new). Let them test it. Take your receipt with you. If it is not working, they should replace it if it is that new.
