cheep way to boost your amplifier or subwoofer?and what accessories would be best?
I recently instaled a 2 1000w subs and a 1000w amplifier and i was wondering if i could but an accessory that might boost my amp so that it is getting more power and also i am trying to get that wow effect with this stuff i have a 2003 lancer and what accessories do you thing would look good and still have a meaniful purpose
there is no "cheap" way.. the bottom line is SPL or volume does not come easy. double power will only gain you 3db and it takes 10db to sound "twice as loud" and 1 db is the smallest we can detect as a change. so even going to 1300 watts would hardly be noticable, if at all. so there is nothing you can do there. as far as a wow factor, you want to impress people make your system actually sound good and not just loud...one thing that may make your system sound better and louder, is IF your box is not exactly to the manufatures specs. then a new enclosure can make a big difference, have a pro shop make a enclosure specific to your sub and your lancer.. now that will impress... you also mentioned "you installed" if you used a multimeter great, if you did not, understand the gains are not volume knobs they are there to match voltages, if they do not match added distortion or lack of power will be enevitable, some of the best pros doing it day in and day out, use meters not the "by ear" method, that should tell you something. spend the money on a $20 meter and read up how to install it right, now that will impress...
