Where to put a compression/sustainer on my pedal board?
I just picked up a used Boss CS-3 Compression/Sustainer, and I can't seem to find the right place for it on my pedal board. Currently, this is my setup:
Epiphone LP Standard>>>Boss CS-3>>>Boss OS-2 Overdrive/Distortion>>>Boss CH-1 Super Chorus>>>Boss EQ-20 Advanced EQ>>>Boss NS-2 Noise Suppressor>>>PA system/amp
I've tried putting the CS-3 in a few different places (where it is in my setup now and right after the EQ-20), but it always seems to make a ton of noise, even with the noise suppressor engaged. Any ideas where to put it or how to config it? Thanks!
By the way, I want to use the pedal for a sustain effect; a nice, long sustain.
Typically, I'll usually run my setup through a PA system at my church, although I typically play it through a Fender Champion 300 DSP around the house.

The compressor first will work just fine, but you might try experimenting with putting it before and after the OS-2. Either way will give you different sounds. Compression pedals do tend to be fairly noisy, so with that many pedals, you probably will get alot of hiss. The way compressors work is that they boost weak signals and reduce strong ones. This evens out your sound and helps notes to ring out longer, but it will also make any static/hum louder as well. If your Fender has an effects loop, you might try running the chorus and possibly the eq pedals through that.
