what is the difference between pedal distortion and amp distortion?
What is the difference between a distortion effect pedal and the overdrive affect on my cheap practice amp?
Well Overdrive on an Amp may sound a bit fuzzy and may also not have a good crisp clean sound besides the distortion, which may affect the sound quality just a bit.
With a good quality distortion pedal the distortion can vary from less to more distortion and does not sound likee your having skips in the sound, which you cannot change with overdrive because with overdrive it just plain sucks. Lets just say a distortion pedal has a cleaner sound to it than overdrive on an amp
