fender twin reverb distortion sounds?
i know that you can naturally overdrive the fender twin but does anyone have any suggestions about how to use stomp boxes to get a great heavier rock sound. i'm usin the digitech hot rod, grunge, ibanez ts-9 tubesceamer, boss chorus ensemble, and a maxon compressor. any suggestions appreciated
First off I just want to tell you I think you've got a fine piece of amp, but to be honest you're gonna get mmore of blues to classic rock sound of this amp. Still, this is a classic amp with great tone and I guess if you were to turn all the sound knobs up (treble, bass and all that jazz) it will give you more bite. I'm gonna come out and say this though, I'm not a fan of Digitech pedals. If your looking to get some good distortion out of your amp, I'd recommend either the Double Muff Overdrive or Big Muff Fuzz pedal from Electro Harmonix. The Double Muff is a very affordable effects pedal (I got mine for $90 Canadian) and delivers a rock and roll sound the you can adjust to the amount of creamy or rock hard distortion. The Big Muff costs quite a bit more (no less than $200 Canadian) and you can get some really vintage sounds out of it (like Pink Floyd live from Pompeii or some Jimi Hendrix).
That's all I can recomend really, go down to your local g-box store and ask to try one of those pedals and run it through your regular set up, or as close as you can to your regular set up. If that doesn't work, just ask them for some help, they'll probably know since they make a living selling guitar equipment.
