Metal recommendations for alternative rock fan?
I usually listen to bands who fall in the alternative/indie rock genre, but i want to try something new, so i thought i could be interesting to try something a little heavier and perhaps more complex, so heavy metal here i come!!!
I especially like the psych rock things, like shoegaze and noise rock (My Bloody Valentine, The Jesus and Mary Chain, Sonic Youth), garage rock (The Strokes, White Stripes), and the few harder ish rock bands i like is Wolfmother, A Place to Bury Strangers and Smashing Pumpkins.
The only metal band i have know i like is Alcest a shoegaze/black metal band.
I'm not scared of heavy distortion or crazy guitar effects because of shoegaze. Oh and growling vocals is not me at all (but not if Pixies' vocals are considered growl...), and melodicness is very appreciated.
Okay then, i hope it is possible to make some nicey suggestions...! 
If melodicness is one of your key likes it would probably be best for you to start with the "Gothenburg Three." Them being In Flames, Dark Tranquillity, and At the Gates. Just start with each bands debut a build from that.
