Anyone else not a fan of the Mystic Blues Overdrive?
I bought the pedal halfprice but I am disappointed.
Even going through with bassy Ibanez guitar's humbuckers, the tone is too thin compared to my Marshall amp overdrive.
The EQ hardly does anything, putting bass up all the way and cutting highs still is a trebly tone.
I find when strumming loudly there is an unpleasant scraping kind of noise. I guess humbuckers have too great an output for this pedal's input.
It sounds like the pedal isn't really all that transparent.
If you like the sound of your amp without the pedal, you might try a clean boost instead.
Warning though. The "unpleasant scraping" sound was transformer damping. When you push the front end of a Marshall, they all do that. That noise is why most people like Marshall. If you don't like that sound, you're probably better off not using a pedal period. Either that or lowering the level on the pedal below unity gain (make it quieter than the amp without the pedal).
