What EQ do radio stations use?
I know their microphones probably go through compressors, but what EQ do they use on their mics (eg. on Capital FM 95.8)?
I had a hunch that they use a lot of high and low, but cut the mid, but I don't think this is true. I'm aiming at something with a lot of rich bass, whilst keeping the energetic presence of a voice.
If you listen to Capital in the morning, I'm aiming for that type of sound (I already have a good condenser)
Every system is different - even on different days! You just have to constantly tweak from center. Get a good sound on a good day and go from there. It's a matter of taste. I can remember as a program (or Programme in your country) director being chased out of the equipment room many times for tweaking the oddities in the racks - usually the optimizer.
