Does the internet speed decrease by amount of plugs in the wall with working internet or amt. of electronics?
Would having more plugs with working internet slow me down? Or is it the amount of electronics?
You question is a bit oddly worded, but I think what you are asking about is what slows down your internet connection.
Internet connection speed starts at your computer Network Interface Card (NIC). Most new computers connect at 100Mb/s, but if you have an older computer, it may only be the older 10Mb/s speed. Next is your ISP connection speed. Cable modems can go as high as 5 MB/s, DSL can run from 512Kb/s to 6Mb/s. If you are unfortunate enough to still be on dial-up Internet, 56kb/s is your maximum.
So to get an idea of what you have, go to www.speedtest.net and run a test to a location near you and then one a bit more distant. That will show you your maximum download and upload connection speeds.
The amount of free memory on your system will have some effect on your network performance, but as long as you have sufficient pagefile space on your system, then Windows will compensate.
Once you have sorted out your NIC speed, your ISP connection speed and checked the performance on speedtest.net, then remember that the site you are connecting to will also have similar considerations. Even if you had a Gigabit Ethernet interface, and a 100 MB/s ISP connection, if the site on the other end has bandwidth availability issues, you will only get data as fast as they can send.
