Is it interference in the line, the line too long, or is our connections wrong?
At my church I ran 200+ ft of (I think) RG-6 coaxial cable from one building to another. The source is a camera, and the destination of this particular line is a tv. The camera line 1st goes into a 3-input/1-output composite switcher (Thats one input). A line from a dvd player goes into another input. The output of the switcher runs to a 1-input/4-output powered distribution amplifier. Of the distr. amp, 1 out goes to the rg-6 line, 1 line goes to a DVC100 Dazzle, 1 goes to a tv that sits in the room with us. The problem we are having is that on the monitor that the rg-6 line connects to (after running 200+ ft), the image is sometimes twitchy, and has alternating dark and light bands traveling up the screen. Any time i unplug the Dazzle from the distr. amp, the bands go away, but if i plug it in or try to move a different way, the bands return or the screen gets worse. Any Technicians out there recognize these symptoms and can diagnose this problem?
Looks like the Dazzle causes some interference. Check that its video connector is properly grounded.
Also if you have a composite switch I am not sure how you distribute composite video over Coax without an RF modulator!
If the output of the switch is composite, you need an RF modulator to go from composite to RF (coax).
