Can an Effect pedal make my acoustic-electric guitar sound electric?

I purchased an Ibanez Acoustic Electric and want to know If i use an effect pedal e.g Overdrive, will it sound electric through my amp?

That would be a negative.

They have acoustic simulator pedals for the electric guitar. But they don't really do the acoustic justice.

If you do use an overdrive pedal or distortion pedal you will get an acoustic distortion sound, not even close to the sound of an electric.

Your best bet to get what you want, is to get a Taylor T5 guitar. It does electric and acoustic and does both of them with justice. But it's cost is a minimum of $2,200.

Also when considering things like this, keep in mind of the price / quality ratio. So when looking at the AC-3 Acoustic Simulator for electric guitars, it cost $100. So you aren't going to get a good quality acoustic sound with a $100 pedal, or else people wouldn't spend a $1,000 on a good acoustic.

You also might consider the Line 6 Variax guitars. Anything beyond the 1st generation is not too bad, but it still sounds like simulated sound.
